Welcome to ourbeautystruggles.com
Ourbeautystruggles.com first started off as a graduation project, something I had to do to pass high school. However, once I got started doing some research, looking into some amazing books, and even reading back on some of my old diary entries, I saw that all I wanted in the world back then was to be thin and if I couldn’t accomplish that, then I would have rather died trying. Pleas and promises I would scribble down quickly and furiously into pages because I was angry with the perfectly healthy, perfectly normal body I was given. That’s when this project became very very real to me because I realized that this problem was a lot more common than I could even begin to imagine and there was something to be done about it: a site where teens, adults, and, sadly, even children can say “I’ve had enough”: where we can share our stories and our successes. There are web sites called pro-an which stands for pro anorexia; why not make one against it, standing up against the evil that makes us fall asleep hungry at night, that makes us count how many grapes we eat, or how many times we excessively chew our food?
There is a quote I read that has stuck with me and I hope it does the same for you: “It is far more difficult to murder a phantom than reality” –Virgina Woolf
…but not impossible: the choice is yours: Do you want to give into the idea of what others consider to be beauty or really be “uniquely beautiful”?
Thank you for your support it really does mean a lot to me.

Quote of the Month
I am still determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may be, for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our disposition and not upon our circumstances. –Martha Washington
Please send in any quotes, pictures, or poems you enjoy that are uplifting, encouraging, and that give strength. We all need them. Just send them to my email address ourbeautystruggles@gmail.com with the subject saying "Quote of the Month" so I know what it is.
